Mission

The Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association (GCCMA) exists to educate, preserve, and celebrate African American history and culture.  GCCMA fulfils its mission by partnering with religious, educational, civic and other organizations to provide for the youth of all citizens in Georgetown, Texas.

Vision

GCCMA will remain the recognized leader and key resources for promoting the rich and varied heritage of African Americans by providing programs for youth and all citizens in Georgetown, Texas.

History

The Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association (GCCMA) was founded in 1975 and was originally organized as caretakers of the Afro-American Citizens Memorial Garden Cemetery, established in 1906. In 1982, the organization was formally reorganized with the same purpose: to preserve, honor, and protect this important historic site.

Over the years, GCCMA has expanded its mission while remaining deeply rooted in preservation, education, cultural awareness, and community service.

Annual Community Backpack Distribution Event

Each year, GCCMA partners with community organizations, businesses, and volunteers to support local students through the Annual Community Backpack Distribution Event. This effort helps provide students with backpacks and school supplies as they prepare for a successful school year.
